Addiction-Rep.com’s Owner, Jim Peake – Featured In Alcoholism Drug Abuse Weekly (ADAW)
In July 20th’s issue of Alcoholism Drug Abuse Weekly (ADAW), Jim Peake, owner of Addiction-Rep.com, discussed online marketing issues facing those in the addiction treatment industry.
Jim Peake Featured In ADAW
In the ADAW article “Leaders See Growing Imbalance of Marketing’s Playing Field,” Peake sheds light on the current lack of interest in marketing ethics. He also highlights the lack of awareness of what can and cannot be accomplished via online marketing.
“I’m not seeing any interest in marketing ethics right now,” says Peake in ADAW. “It’s not that I think there isn’t concern for it, but people are just unaware of what can and can’t be done on the Internet. They leave it to the marketing team to do what they do with ‘that computer thing’.”
The article mentions that one of the biggest challenges in rehab marketing is due to questionable marketing practices that some of the larger players in the industry are using to generate leads. However, many treatment center executives have yet to reassess their own strategies to combat the negative impact of internet bait-and-switch practices and other less-than-ethical lead-generating tactics.
Online Marketing Is Here To Stay
While it may be tempting for facility leaders to just give up on internet marketing because they don’t like the current landscape, the reality is that the vast majority of patients and their families will research online before making a decision. By not having an online presence, even the best treatment center with the highest rates of long-term recovery will be at a tremendous disadvantage.
Developing New Ways To Compete
Many independent treatment centers are finding it nearly impossible to compete on a level playing field with larger players within the industry. Some of the most aggressive marketers are pouring millions into their online marketing efforts to capture referrals on a national level. One provider has even acquired two large digital marketing firms to add even more fuel to their extensive marketing efforts.
Obviously, smaller treatment centers do not have the same level of resources to generate leads. Thus, they need new strategies to grab any amount of market share. Some within the industry believe that the skyrocketing rates of pay-per-click combined with declining insurance reimbursement will be disastrous for some treatment centers. Peake believes that there is a need for more regulation of internet marketing within the treatment industry.
Navigating The Maze Of Online Marketing
In the fast-paced, ever-changing world of online marketing, it’s nearly impossible for treatment center leaders to be able to keep up-to-date on everything they need to know. This is why it’s so beneficial to have a professional internet marketing firm on their side to guide their strategies and implementation.
