AAC American Addiction Centers Acquires Rehabs.com

Posted on Jul 7, 2015 by Jim Peake

In what seems to be pretty big news in the addiction treatment marketing space AAC American Addiction Centers has acquired one of the largest addiction treatment content publishers. There will be some winners and losers in this acquisition. The biggest winner so far is Wall St. Right now big money wins. Why? Because big money ($60 million to be exact) will be able to get eyeballs to the American Addiction Centers website.

The value of this acquisition at $60 Million seems very rich in my opinion. Only time will tell if it is a prudent investment. At the end of the day I do think it was an extremely smart transaction by AAC giving them an instant foothold in addiction treatment online impressions. The question will become how well will AAC be able to deliver on quality treatment?

Do we know how many visits will be coming to American Addiction Centers no but if we had to make an educated guess enough to generate 200 – 400 admissions per month. Where would a lot of these admissions be coming from exactly? They would be coming from a website called Rehabs.com. What you will notice in the press release is very little information about Rehabs.com. Why? I guess they don’t want to attract a lot of attention to the project.

The losers in this acquisition are the current clients of Rehabs.com. They will have to find other sources for their internet admissions. This is not easy to come by because cost of an internet admission is consistently on the incline no matter the marketing source SEO, PPC or TV.

I’m not 100% sure how this group of acquired companies works but there are a few websites they manage:

RankLab.com
RecoveryBrands.com
TajMedia.com
Rehabs.com
ReferralSolutionsGroup.com

If you look at this quote in the press release what it means to me is AAC is committed to being as good or better at lead generation as they are at treatment in order to succeed in the addiction treatment space. “In addition to being a leading treatment provider, AAC is an innovative marketing company,” said Michael Cartwright, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of AAC Holdings.

We all have to become great marketing companies.

For the smaller guys out there it is time to focus on your own content and continuously publish great content. If you don’t think “content is important” just reread this press release title AAC Holdings Acquires One of the Largest Online Publishers of Drug Treatment Content. If you do one thing on the internet do it well and keep creating great original content. We all must become publishers…..and really great publishers as well.
