The Next Drug Rehab Opening Near You!

Posted on Mar 26, 2019 by Jim Peake

A Google linked company getting into the drug rehab business?  Not as far fetched as you might think.  Addiction effects techies too.  The good news is that big concerns like Google and Apple have the financial clout to muscle their way around zoning boards.

It seems perfectly OK to have a porous southern border and allow some criminals, drug dealers, rapists, thieves, thugs, gang members to come into our neighborhoods but when it comes to opening a professional healthcare facility in a neighborhood plagued by drug addiction it is totally problematic.  There is a total double standard going on here.

Listen to the fears of this woman; “The biggest concern is safety and security, and again, how is this going to impact the stabilization of our neighborhood?” said Gwendolyn Buchanan, president of Carillon Civic Council.  What I want to know is where does she get her information if she is so concerned about safety and security?  Here is an answer to her question: It will impact the stabilization to her neighborhood by helping more people stay of drugs and provide a safe and clean place for them to live while they get on with their lives.  How is that for a positive solution?

Here’s the problem, if they were going to open a senior living center in the same location, they would most likely say there are too many ambulances coming and going taking the seniors to the hospitals.  The bottom line is people need stuff to complain about otherwise they don’t feel as if they have a purpose in life.  (Where do we get this data from?  The same damn place they get their safety and security data… it is all made up… pure fiction).

At Addiction-Rep we have been in the rehab space since 2008 and we have helped 100’s of rehabs in many capacities. The biggest problem neighbors will have with the rehabs is people standing outside congregating and smoking cigarettes and drinking coffee whole waiting for a ride to the next meeting or event. That is all.  This is very easy to address and set aside a location possibly behind walls or a fence so that the neighbors will be undisturbed. Otherwise the Carillion Civic Council needs to show us where their security fears are coming from and show us precedents.  If they can’t, their complaint is total bullshit.

If you want to open an addiction treatment center and are not experienced in getting the zoning, licensing and policies and procedures dialed in give us a call and we can help you.  Can you do it yourself but chances are it will take you well over a year and do you have that kind of time while you are planning and building your new drug rehab?
